How To Plan Your Wedding Breakfast

So here we are with the second instalment of your wedding reception- The Wedding Breakfast- if you missed the first post on your drinks reception, click HERE.





Ok so wedding breakfast, let's start at the beginning and talk through the structure of this part of your day!


After your drinks reception your best man, toastmaster or wedding planner will have called your guests to start making their way in and taking their seats. Your guests will either enter after making their way down the receiving line (click here to find out what a receiving line is) or just straight in via the table plan or escort card display.

Whether you have gone for a table plan or escort cards, your guests will each start looking for their names. Once they have found their name they will know what their corresponding table is, so they will make their way over and take their seats.


Once all the guests are seated, your toastmaster will announce the new Mr and Mrs and you will enter the room to all your guests clapping at your first introduction as husband and wife. Once you have sat down your guests will follow.

Now depending on how you decide to structure your speeches (read more on that HERE) you may have all your speeches now, just one or none.


Then your food will be served. If you have decided to do the wedding breakfast walk around that we've talked about before, then remember to fit that in in-between the courses. Once you have finished all your courses, your caterer will pour a glass of bubbly for your speeches.


Simple as that.

The wedding breakfast will end as guests are invited to make their way to the bar by the Groom or toastmaster.


In terms of length your wedding breakfast is likely to take between 1.5 hours -2.5 hours, but this is very much dependant on how many courses you have and of course, how many guests you have. So definitely liaise with your caterer here.
