A Two-Day English Countryside Wedding Weekend at St Giles House:
Candlelit Indian Dining, Butter-Yellow Details and a Secret Underground Club

Some venues invite you to create a beautiful wedding day. St Giles House invites you to create an entire world.
For Jackie and James, that meant bringing 110 of their closest people together on Friday for a welcome celebration shaped by Jackie’s Dutch-Indian-American heritage, before the main wedding day unfolded on Saturday for 120 guests.
Across the weekend, each experience had its own atmosphere, rhythm and sense of discovery—while a considered palette of ivory, butter yellow and vivid pink connected the story throughout.
It was the kind of wedding weekend we love to design at Bluebird Creative: deeply personal, visually distinctive and full of moments that guests could never have anticipated.
Friday: A Candlelit Indian Welcome Dinner
The weekend began inside St Giles House, where guests arrived for welcome drinks and Indian street-food canapés. It was important that Friday felt like a celebration in its own right—not simply the evening before the wedding—and that it meaningfully honoured Jackie’s Indian heritage.
We worked with the house's character rather than competing with it. Soft ivory and butter yellow brought lightness to the historic interiors, while flashes of super-hot pink added energy and a more contemporary edge. The result felt joyful and expressive, yet completely at home within St Giles.
As dinner approached, guests discovered an escort-card installation inspired by the setting itself: a traditional library card box filled with individual library cards. Each card was stamped as its guest entered the Library to take their seat—a small piece of theatre that turned a practical transition into something memorable and entirely specific to the venue.
Inside, the Library glowed by candlelight. A seated Indian dinner transformed the room into an intimate, atmospheric gathering: warm, generous and connected to the bride’s story. It created exactly the right opening note for the weekend—personal, relaxed and rich in detail.

Saturday Morning: A Very English Country-House Start
Saturday began with a change of pace. Guests who wanted to take part headed into the grounds for axe throwing, archery and clay shooting—a playful country-house morning that encouraged everyone to mix, laugh and settle into the day.
One of the joys of a multi-day celebration is the time it gives guests to form their own relationships. By the time everyone gathered for the ceremony, the weekend already had a natural sense of warmth and momentum.

Bridal Preparations and a Modern Heirloom Look
While guests made the most of the grounds, Jackie spent the morning getting ready inside the house with her bridal party. St Giles’ richly layered interiors—historic portraits, decorative plasterwork and softly faded rooms—created an atmospheric setting for the quieter rituals of bridal preparation.
Jackie chose a Caroline Castigliano gown for the ceremony: an elegant, sculpted silhouette with delicate lace sleeves and a beautifully clean skirt. The design felt timeless enough for the grandeur of St Giles House, while its confident structure gave it a distinctly modern presence. She paired it with Emmy London shoes, bringing another layer of considered British design to the look.
It was exactly the kind of bridal fashion we love: chosen in conversation with the venue and the atmosphere of the day, but never overwhelmed by either. Against the scale and history of the house, Jackie still felt entirely like herself.

An Outdoor Ceremony in the St Giles Gardens
After a week spent watching the forecast—and a little investment in a weather witch—the sun appeared at precisely the right moment.
The ceremony was held outside, with St Giles House creating the most beautiful backdrop, along with the perfectly timed white Wisteria climbing the house in full bloom.
Abundant floral arrangements framed the aisle in shades of ivory, cream and pale yellow, designed to look as though they belonged within the garden. Black cane-backed chairs introduced a sharper, more modern contrast and stopped the scheme from feeling overly traditional.
Jackie’s bridal look echoed that same balance: timeless and elegant, but with a clean confidence that felt entirely her own. Against the historic façade and soft spring planting, every element felt elevated without being overworked.

Drinks in the Garden
Following the ceremony, guests moved into the gardens for drinks and canapés. This part of the day was intentionally unhurried—time to explore the grounds, reconnect over cocktails and enjoy the house in the sunshine before dinner.
The weekend’s butter-yellow details continued quietly through the styling, from linens and stationery to bespoke soft furnishings and even the selected drinks menu. Rather than repeating one design everywhere, we used the palette as a thread, adapting it to suit each new space and moment.

A Modern, Flower-Filled Marquee Reception
Dinner was hosted in a sailcloth marquee within the grounds. Soft ivory draping and layers of pale florals created a romantic foundation, while black chairs once again brought definition and modernity to the room. Butter-yellow menus, napkins and carefully chosen details added warmth across the tables.
For the escort-card display, Jackie and James wrote a personalised letter to every guest. The letters were arranged within a large floral installation for guests to find before entering the marquee. More than a seating plan, it became one of the most emotional details of the day: 120 individual reminders that every person present had been deliberately chosen to share the weekend with them.
Dinner unfolded around live music, speeches and the first dance. The marquee felt elegant but never too formal—beautiful enough to feel exceptional, yet full of energy and life.

Cake, Cocktails and a Secret Club
After dinner, guests returned to the house for the cake cutting and evening cocktails. Just when it appeared they had experienced every side of St Giles, the doors to the venue’s secret underground club opened.
For the evening, Jackie changed into a Clio Peppiatt mini dress—intricately embellished, playful and made for the dance floor—paired with Meshki heels. The second look marked the shift in mood perfectly. Where her ceremony gown had felt refined and romantic, the mini dress brought movement, sparkle and a little irreverence to the final part of the celebration.
Guests were welcomed downstairs with Fireball shots before the DJ took over and the final chapter of the wedding began. The shift in atmosphere was instant: from airy garden ceremony and candlelit dinner to an all-out underground party.
Late-night food arrived in bespoke McDonald’s-style boxes—a playful, unexpected final detail that perfectly matched the mood. It was irreverent, personal and exactly what everyone needed after hours on the dance floor.

In Jackie’s Words
We were looking for an elevated English countryside wedding and Bluebird delivered just that and more. Lauren has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to logistics and styling, as well as a great network of supplier relationships, ensuring you get the best vendors in the UK. She was able to digest my brief and needs and produce an event that was exactly what I had envisioned.”— Jackie
Designing a Wedding Weekend as One Complete Story
What made Jackie and James’s St Giles House wedding so special was not simply the individual details, but the way the entire weekend moved.
Friday’s candlelit celebration acknowledged heritage and family. Saturday morning gave guests time to play and connect. The ceremony and marquee brought elegance and romance, while the secret club allowed the night to finish with total abandon.
Each space revealed something new, but every experience still felt unmistakably part of the same wedding. That is where thoughtful multi-day planning makes the greatest difference: creating contrast without disconnection, and making sure guests are carried effortlessly from one moment to the next.
For Jackie and James, St Giles House became more than a backdrop. For two unforgettable days, it became a world built around their story.
With Love, Lauren and the BC team xx
